    June film reviews

    Ranked by release date:

The Internship: Billy (Vince Vaughn) and Nick (Owen Wilson) are salesmen whose careers have been torpedoed by the digital world.

The Purge: In an America wracked by crime, the government has sanctioned an annual 12-hour period in which any and all criminal activity—including murder—is legal. The police can’t be called. Hospitals suspend help.

Man of Steel: As a young man, he journeys to discover where he came from and what he was sent here to do.

World War Z: The story revolves around United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself.

Monsters University: Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan are an inseparable pair, but that wasn’t always the case. From the moment these two mismatched monsters met they couldn't stand each other.

Detention of the Dead: Comedy and Horror unite in this The Breakfast Club meets Shaun of the Dead tale about a group of oddball high school students who find themselves trapped in detention with their classmates having turned into a horde of Zombies.

Redemption: Reeling from a traumatic tour of duty in Afghanistan, Joey (Jason Statham), an ex-Special Forces soldier, returns to London to face another kind of war: life on the streets as a damaged, homeless veteran.

White House Down: Secret Service agent is tasked with saving the life of the U.S. President after the White House is overtaken by a paramilitary group.

Is anybody ELSE sick of zombie movies???

Personally I'm sick of all adventure/action/sci-fi/fantasy flicks with implausible, over-the-top, CGI action sequences.

When looking at movies for June, there are at least five other scary films to be released to theaters this month. They are cheap to make and require no story line. Just put some make up on and scream here and there and you got yourself a movie

Well.... I'll say this about that. that being Zombies. I'm about done with the slow shambling "Walking Dead" type zombie. I'm still terrified by fast zombies, "28 Days Later" type Zombies who are stinkin' fast and hard to kill. Nope I'm not done with the living dead just yet. As for this summer's very un-original fare? What did you expect? "Citizen Kane"?

    Yes

At least they could try instead of rehashing comic book heros such as Superman.
