    Audio Event Highlights

A local high end shop had a party tonight and hear are my highlights.

    * Musical Surroundings, phono stage, outstanding and affordable. The $1200.00 Nova 2 was used with a $18k Clear Audio rig, the sound together was stunning, so my assumption, for the Musical Surroundings to hold it's own like that, it is a great buy at $1200.00. The Musical Surroundings phono stages are battery powered with a rechargeable battery.

    * I heard a must have LP on the Clear Audio label, Ozone Percussion Group, I think the title was The Percussion Album, audiophile and a good listen, not just for demo. The percussion is drums, vibes and cymbals playing a catchy tune. I only heard a short bit.

    * I heard the Dynaudio Evidence Platinum, as you can expect, very good but I do think they would have benefit from a larger room. They really shined with the $18k Clear Audio front end, Innovation table with Divinchi cart. The new T+A integrated amp drove the Platinums. The integrated is in T+A's new High Voltage line, costing $16k, 300x2 into 8 ohms and Class A up to 40 watts.

    * My choice of system I wanted to bring home was an Octave Audio V110 integrated amp driving Dynaudio's new version of the Confidence 2's. Octave Audio is my favorite tube gear, doing everything right IMO. The V110 is about $8300.00 and 110x2 but you can't go by the power rating on these amps, you can't get any 110x2 amp to drive C2's, and a tube amp at that, the Octave Audio is extraordinary no matter the topology.

I have heard the Ozone Percussion Group over at Frank Van Alstines when I got to hear the prototype of his new Synergy amps. It is a very good percussion CD.

O-Zone Percussion Group - La Bamba

Whiplash / The O-Zone Percussion Group

The Ozone Percussion Group - Jazz Variants (Manger CD) - YouTube

I wish I could have been there with you listening to an $18K Clear Audio rig.

The turntable sounded much better than the media server they were using IMO. The Ozone LP was a different one, I'll try to post a link or something when I'm able to find it, I did see the LP on Music Direct for $44.95. I'll try to find it again just to show it.

No, Leroy, nothing from there in the near future, if I needed a phono stage I would certainly be looking at the Musical Surroundings though. If more in my budget and needs the Octave Audio would be nice too. I do have something in the works though so keep watch for a new thread, most likely in the digital forum.

Here's a link to the Ozone LP, I'm not sure if it's on any other format.
THE O-ZONE PERCUSSION GROUP THE PERCUSSION RECORD (180G IMPORT LP) at Music Direct

Ha, these guys are from Indiana but the LP is via Germany
