I must say that Mac products are certainly well built, and the amps and processors sound clean and transparent. However their speakers do not sound very good to me, especially considering how much they cost. One of the designers of their XRT2K speakers hangs out on the DIYaudio site. I mention this opinion while posting there, and boy did he give me an eye full. My last comment to him after a series of insults was "if you are going to design speakers, you need to know how to listen. You obviously don't listen to what you designed, and you certainly aren't listening to a potential customer when they tell you your speakers could use some improvement".

He raged on for another page then gave up.

Although I have Mac gear and have been pleased with it I never paid much attention to their speakers (over the past 15 years or so). Admittedly mostly because of the way they looked. I just never found them to be too attractive so whenever I did hear them playing at the shop I kept on walking. i did recently just read a thread in another forum i think where a guy just restored an amazing pair of Mac speakers from around 1980ish and they looked gorgeous. Beautiful cabinetry and a hinged grill. The model number escapes me but they were eye candy. no idea how they sound though.
