If the world ends on December 21...

What song would you want to be the last song you hear?

And let's stay away from the obvious songs like REM's (or Great Big Sea's) It's the End of the World As We Know It and The Doors This is the End.

I hope I do not hear "Highway To Hell"

I would like to hear Art Garfunkel's "Breakaway"

I watch the distant lights on the runway
    Disappear into the evening sky
Oh you know I'm with you on your journey
    Never could say goodbye

It's not the sun you're trying to find
Something else is on your mind
You need a little space and time
    To break away
It's not the place you're going to
    It's just a phase you're going through
Though I won't stop you I don't want you to

    Break away
    Fly across your ocean
    Break away
    Time has come for you
    Break away
    Fly across your ocean
    Break away
    Time has come

For you to awaken in another country
Greet the morning under foreign skies
Leaving me to face another Monday
It's not easy to get by

It's not the sun you're trying to find
Something else is on your mind
You need a little space and time
    To break away
It's not the place you're going to
    It's just a phase you're going through
Though I won't stop you I don't want you to

    Break away
    Fly across your ocean
    Break away (breakaway)
    Time has come for you
    Break away (breakaway)
    Fly across your ocean
    Break away (breakaway)
    Time has come for you

I'd want to hear Old Eyes, by Ten Hands. One of my favorite tear jerkers, and I'd dedicate it to Rodan, Dick, Tojo, Pepper, Endo, and any other of the dogs I've had the pleasure of sharing my life with.

I met you in an earlier time
we had just one thing in common
that was the only thing in my life
I remember that one spring day
when we drove out in the country
flying past houses, farms and fields
I would give anythingto be with you again
    I would give anything
to hear you call my name (ooooowwwwwoooooooo!)
    I would give anything
    to see your smiling face
to see you with my old eyes
    that wasn't so long ago
when we were both quite naive
oh the things that I believed
I remember the summer with you
when we lived out in the country
so much life and so much time
time is changingnow my life is rearranged
    there's so much trouble
we got lostI could not find you
had to leave you far behind
but I will be with you again

Did you ever imagine the last thing
you'd hear as you're fading out
    was a song?

    Arriving somewhere...
    but not here

    Here's another...

And I wonder which song they're going to play when we go
I hope it's something quiet, mannered, peaceful, and slow
When we float out into the ether into the everlasting arms
I hope we don't hear Marley's chains we forged in life

Because the chains I've been hearing now for most of my life
And the chains I've been hearing for most of my life

Did you hear the '59 sound coming through on Grandmama's radio?
Did you hear the rattling chains in the hospital walls?
Did you hear the old gospel choir when they came to carry you over?
Did you hear your favorite song one last time?

    Whiter Shade of Pale.
I call my bathroom Jim instead of John so I can tell people that I go to the Jim first thing every morning.

If you say the word 'gullible' very slowly it sounds just like oranges.
