    VCR Record Switch

Does anyone know how to install a switch that I would be able to push from another room to make a vcr record. I have seen this done but am not sure how to do. I be more specific. The vcr is in the closet next to the room Im wanting to record, I want to be able to walk into that room and push the record and stop button that would be mounted on a wall. The example i have seen this the switches were wired to the vcr. The example I have seen this was for a police interview room. Hopefully someone can help me.

Depending on how far the rooms are apart, there are infa-red relays, or maybe called extenders. That's all I'm aware of but you might check an audio shop that deals with home automation. With the extender you would point the remote at it and it would send the signal to the VCR. I've never used one but seems like there would be some physical limitations to that set up. I bet a security company would have something to do that.
