Got my Luxman up and Working

Hey,

Acquired a Luxman R-3045 about a month ago that needed some work. It needed a new power switch and one of the transistors was bad. Had it worked on by the guys at GNP (quality place) in Los Angeles.

The sound is more refined then my Pioneer SX-650. It is warm but never "blooms". The amp does not push the sound to cause any type of distortion or breaking of delicate passages. The phono stage is neutral with an edge "tube-like" warmth. My favorite parts are that is has two phono stages: one for MM and the other for MC. One weird thing is their is no balance option, instead there is a two piece knob that adjusts the volume of each channel.

Futuristic look but sleek and classy. The condition is perfect not a single mark. Rosewood veneer is untouched and a new urethane satin coat makes it look brand new.

Another cool part of the receiver is that these LEDs are for tuning and they move in the direction of the strongest signal: unique.

Eno, first of all....WHERE YA BEEN!?!?! Dude, please don't disappear again. That was a great post man.

Of course, the Luxman looks smashing in it's place amongst your gears. Overall your set up is like mine "small but mighty". The poor ol 650 didn't stand a chance, I think I saw a tear rolling down it's meter. You can almost hear it singing..."(turn around) every now and then I get a little...." Hahaha.

In conjunction with your other post, I think the Dual should go and the proceeds to a better cart. I'm just not sure if your table's arm is a good match for a typical LOMC. We'll have to look at that. At the very least a nice and new HOMC will do plenty to surpass the OM-20 and give you that upgrade you're seeking.

In the time you've been gone, I finally upgraded my table. Not to lynch your thread, but I have been pleased beyond belief. Record after record...

That thing looks as stable as TT can get. First of all that platter is a huge improvement, reminds me of a Thoren platter. Also, so how do you like the motor? It's a belt drive? The Pioneer was direct drive no?

I read this general history of sound design book, and they had an Artison table pictured in it and had a couple of paragraphs about how Artison invented the suspended chasis table, of course than Dual really popularized it.

What is the cart that you have matched with it and the tone-arm as well?
