My Marantz 2240 is slowly dieing!

Alright guys my Marantz 2240 won't play music out of the left speaker before it wouldn't play at low volumes but now it just won't play at all. Any ideas on a fix ... if the fix isn't easy and somewhat cheap I'll probably end up getting rid of it

Pots need cleaning? Try switching and turning everything several times and see if that makes a difference.

You spray the deoxit into the volume and balance controls and rotate them vigorously. If they are dirty and or corroded the rotation and deoxit will clean them.

This must be done from the inside.

Any contact cleaner will work. It's like any other product, Deoxit is just a name of a brand.

Yes. Spray alot into it and let soak. Then turn the knob or switch about 30 - 50 times in the full range of motion.

Okay poppa i did what you said and now its back to the way it was it only plays out of the left speaker unless I have the mono button pushed in (so its on) ....so I took it back apart then plugged it in and it works??? so if I have the wood covering it apparently doesn't work? any thoughts?

Sounds like something is overheating. Perhaps the output transistors on the bad channel could be on their way out.
