    I just found the following site: http://www.bobgolds.com/AbsorptionCoefficients.htm

    It's got great information on sound attenuation. Much of it is counter intuitive. For example, look at the table marked as: "Owens Corning Fiberglass Batts (fluffy pink), on the wall, and 16" from the wall". Then look at how much the sound absorption characteristics change if the insulation keeps the paper attached.

    Thanks, Stan. That's a great reference.

    I'd heard previously about the effectiveness of various brands of rigid fibreglass insulations which is confirmed here. I'm glad to be remined of it.
