    Cerwin Vega Speakers Info

I just got those big tower speakers! On the back doesn't say the model of them! On the front grills/covers says 2000 Series! Does anyone know anything about them?

The woofers have to be refoamed! Everything else is in good working condition! I just got them for free and is it worth fixing them?

They have 12" woofers and the banana jacks on the back! Super heavy!

Yep, I would fix them, foam is cheap, and easy enough to do, the Cerwin Vega orange foam is available if that is a concern.

If later you change your mind the drivers and such should bring much more than you have in them.

I had a pair of Cerwin Vega LS-8's that I bought used. Used them for 1 1/2 years then they sold ion a snap for $50. They were good speakers. Definately worked better at higher volumes, but were seriously good. I vote for re-foam them and sell them for $125.....

I ordered already the Cerwin Vega foam on ebay for 12" woofers. I am pretty excited to fix them and to see how they sound! Here is the whole story how I got them! I saw on craigslist a guy who was moving to another state selling cerwin vega AT-12 in mint condition for $50! I was like that is a deal because I have seen them going from $150 to $200! I went there and he offered me those big tower speakers for free! I couldn't resist it and I got them!

The AT-12 have exactly the same 12" orange woofers and I am thinking to take them off and put them on the tower ones to see how they will sound!

I have had almost every model of the Vega brand but speakers like those I have never seen before!

Has anyone seen them before? 2000 Series says on the grills.

Here's a link that may help you get more info on them. They appear to be a 1980 speaker and one of the better CW speakers.

I know I saw this last night when I did a google search! Thanks for the help!

I will get them fixed! I am waiting for the foam kit!

How much do you guys think they will be worth?

Seems like they are something rare since I couldn't find anything online! Rare or cheap(but they don't look cheap speakers to me, by the way they are made)

I bet that they sound sweet and you will want to keep them. They would be great paired with a Vintage receiver like an old Sansui or Marantz or Pioneer.

Yeah I have vegas AT-12 and they have the same woofers! I took them off and I putted them on the mysterious 2000 series speakers, they sounded so nice with nice smooth bass!

I will fix them and I will see what I can do! They are pretty hugh 50" High and they took so much space in the house! They look very old too but I will see!

I still can't find anything about them! I am so surprised there is nothing online!

They look like they are real wood veneer cabinets if I'm not mistaken. You should be able to sand them down and refinish them. Do you have the front grill covers?

Yes man they are real wood and heavy as hell! I hardly move them! I have the front grills and they are in very good condition! On them, at the left bottom side says "2000 Series" and I assume that's the model!

I am waiting to get the foam kit! It should come in a couple of days! It's shipped already!

Seems like no one owned those beast before! I feel that I will have to call and ask the guy I bought them from about some info!

    Hey dakatabg,
I saw the Pioneer CS-G303s In your gallery. I recently purchased the same speakers
from a friend wanting to sell. $40.00 what a deal. After I bought the Sansui 9090.
I hooked them up just as a trial. Wasn,t sure what to expect. 9090 @8 ohms vs CS-G303s @
6 ohms. Well, I have had it set up like that for a couple months. They Rock!!!!!!!!!
Just thought I would share that with you.

Yeah they are pretty good speakers. I own 9090DB and it drives the speakers very good. There is Pioneer CS-G403 with 16" woofers that are even better but for $40 you got a good deal. Now is time to enjoy them.
