Does anyone know if it pays to repair a 30 year old Ortofon moving coil step up transformer? Thanks !

There's no real answer for that. Does it have value to you? You could most certainly buy something of better quality for a decent price, maybe even the cost of what would be involved to fix your Orto.

    Any photos?

A moving coil transformer can be a fairly simple device. I can not imagine there would be much wrong. My initial thought would be a failed solder joint at one of the rca jacks. I would have it checked out. New transformers are fairly expensive.

    Oh and welcome to AudioReview.
