    Sir Paul McCartney live

Last night I got to see Sir Paul in concert and if he is coming to your town do not miss the show. He played on the Halifax Common in downtown Halifax in front of 50,000 backup singers and he sent all of us home happy after a 2 hour forty minute set of Beatle, Wings and solo hits. He paid tribute to "my friend John" early on and "my friend George" a bit later playing a ukulele given to him by George on "Something in the way she moves". Hey Jude was a highlight of course along with Let it Be and a hard rocking Live and let Die with large flame pots across the front of the stage and fireworks lighting up the night sky.
Anyway if you get a chance to see him don't miss it, you will not regret it. It's going to be a rock and roll week here in Halifax, Kiss plays the same outdoor venue next Saturday.

I went on Friday night, courtesy of a last-minute invite from in-laws. A little tough to be enthusiastic, musically, about seeing Paul McCartney, considering his output over the past 30+ years, but I was thrilled to be there for all of the obvious reasons & there's nothing wrong with a nostalgia/hits show. Since I didn't spend the money when he started touring again some 20 years ago, I figured my chance was gone to see him, so I'm glad for the opportunity. Outside of the ridiculousness of putting on a concert in a facility constructed for sporting events, I don't see how any fan of the Beatles or Paul McCartney could have any complaints. It was fun & a full set list, 2 hour set, etc.

I took a bunch of pictures, I'll try to post a couple soon. In the meantime...I found this kind of amusing:

"McCartney treated the audience to a soaring rendition of "Blackbird" which he stripped to a solo ballad arranged for acoustic guitar and voice."

    Stripped?

    Ugh.

    A better review, including setlist:

I feel exactly the same way about his solo stuff. Some is tolerable, but much of it is MOR tripe to me. However, seeing that he's one of two remaining Beatles, it would be pretty cool indeed to see him live.

As for 'Blackbird', I prefer the version with full orchestra. Yeah, that's the ticket! Ha!
I call my bathroom Jim instead of John so I can tell people that I go to the Jim first thing every morning.

If you say the word 'gullible' very slowly it sounds just like oranges.

Acoustic version of Blackbird, eh? performs Let It Be like it was '65? I'm glad the reviewer is familiar with the music of The Beatles. He prolly didn't attend.

Yeah, it'd be nice to see Sir Paul, but unless someone floated me tickets, I won't be going. Much of Paul's '70s and '80s output since Band On The Run verges on saccharine, but perhaps he'll focus on the more retro rock aspect of his last few solo albums to make it a good experience. Lord knows he needs the money.
Repost this on your wall if you love Jesus.

Whoops, wrong concert. Wrong stadium (same parking lot, though, same planes going overhead constantly, same dumb place to locate an outdoor sports facility adjacent to a major airport...).
