    preparing for the offseason

Season finale of Fringe aired this week. Nice twist for a finale, but also a little risky. It's something that can change the relationship dynamics of the characters once it's revealed to all players.

Anyhow, my wife and I watch Fringe together so to preserve our hanging out time we picked up season one of Mad Men. Never watched this and wasn't aware of when season 2 began. It seems that the series had a summer premiere in '07 which would've presented all sorts of scheduling problems even if we had been aware of it.

Anybody watch Mad Men? What are you going to do while your favorite show is on summer hiatus?

There is always porn on internet

It is probably me, but I find most current TV shows less and less interesting. Browse the TV channels once in while, but always end up watching a movies or classic TV shows/sitcom on DVD. I have two DVD players running simultaneously.

Go to bed really, really early?

No, seriously. With Fringe and Lost done, there's nothing on that grabs my attention. I'll probably watch Discovery and Food Network (Love TripleD!). With football and the NBA season over, I won't even watch Sportscenter all that much. Baseball is only fun at the stadium, on TV it's as exciting as golf.

We didn't watch The Mentalist during the season. Too many other shows to fill up the DVR already. So we're going to start watching the reruns this summer. Monk starts its new season in July, so that is something to look forward to. TopSpeed golf is only good on TV if you play it yourself. NASCAR now there is something boring.

Well, I don't see a release date for Fringe on DVD yet, so I'm hoping that it's rerun over the summer. I've only seen about a half dozen episodes.

I don't spend as much time watching TV in the summer. I'd much rather be outside in the evening. TV's good for winter months when it's too cold to sit outside. But if I do have time for TV, I've had the first season of 24 on DVD for about three years now and still haven't cracked the plastic. I also bought Twin Peaks for hubby at Christmas and we haven't watched that yet either. Plus we have about 60 movies on our PVR to watch. So there's no shortage of things to kill time with.

Oh yeah, and Big Brother starts again soon!

Next to House, Fringe is about the only show that held my interest this season just ending. It reminds me so much of X-Files which I liked a lot.

Who was it here who mentioned something about the symbols that would be shown just before the station break? I'm really curious about what they indicate.

I've watch a few episodes of House. I love the investigative medicine aspect of the show, but I just hate the character of House so much that I find it hard to sit through a full show.

I think that I was the one who mentioned the symbols after Fringe's pilot episode. In that episode there was a security door that also had a symbol on the scanner for the door. It was a very JJ Abrams thing to do.

I'm usually too busy in the summer to watch TV anyway so the break is nice. I'm gonna miss Fringe almost as much as I'll miss Lost.

But True Blood Season 2 starts in June I'm told?

I also like the alternative reality angle that Fringe used to close out the season. That's the kind of science fiction that interests me.

I dropped HBO so unless you can watch episodes of True Blood on a computer, it's all over for me.
