Best way to add a sub to this system...?

In my garage (lots of listening out there), I have a beat up but awesome sounding set of vintage Thiels. They are physically beat up, but they still sound great. They are the kind that came with the little box for lower bass response. Model 3's, I think.

Well, I'm not a huge fan of the box but am in love with the speakers.

The system I use out there is a Rotel RCD-855 and an Adcom rig (GFA-555 & GFP-555).

My feeling is that a nice sub will be better than the bass box. I need a sub that will be musical enough to keep up with the Thiels, but also cheap enough. It's my garage, so used is the way I'm going. A few scuffs or a missing grill is no problem at all.

So, the question is, what the best type of sub to chase on EBAY or the like? I'm just looking to extend the low end - not to shake the ground.

I'd love to hear any ideas you guys might have. I'm looking to stay under 300 bills.

    Thanks as always.

I stopped in to recommend the Velodyne DLS-3500R but it's hard to argue with $100 and free shipping.

Anybody know anything about the Snell PS-10 MKII subs??

I could grab one of those in good shape for 200.

    Velodyne VX-10

Very musical and will allow your speakers to run full range even with speaker level connection for around $150
