I too am now interested in DIY speakers. Tuesday the wife and I where invited to another couples house. I was taken to the "two channel room" where I saw a Macintosh tube preamp connected to a audio Research tube amp. An Electrocompliant EMC 1UP CD player was the source. And DIY speaker cable where used as well as large DIY book shelf speaker kits. I was amazed at how good the speakers sounded. I betcha those speaker kits cost around $500 or less. But they sounded like speakers that cost much much more....and they where simply nice looking speakers at that.
