Nice job. Not bad for a guy who claims to be...

    ....bored with music.

    Thanks,

I own music by every artist on his list with the exception of Clinic and Blizten Trapper, although I've certainly heard and heard of them both. Yeah, there are a few considered a bit 'obscure', but stick around for a bit and they won't be any longer.

Awesome. Consider it downloaded as soon as I can get home and, well, find the time. (Man, am I getting busy these days...)

Is Media Monkey still the preferred app for converting FLAC to WAV? It's been a while for me.

Anyone know how I can convert these on a Mac? Right now I only have iTunes, but I can download something else if I need it. Please help! Thanks.

Convert them to Apple Lossless and import into iTunes. You'll figure out the rest

No need to convert anything. Import the files into MM, click the album pane, scroll down to "Slosh 2008 Year End Compilation" and right click it, then send to> burn CD/DVD. Make sure you're set up for gapless burning and hit burn CD. Pretty much the same as iTunes.

I'll do my best. I guess I'm more mainstream. Are these guys known at all in the US? Maybe i'm a little off with my music tastes, i listen mostly to trip-hop these days.

Thanks Sloshy! Everything has been downloaded, converted and moved to iTunes. The only problem was that only the song titles appeared so I had to add everything else manually. No biggie though.

Thanks for the tunes. I have a few of these, but most I haven't heard before. I'm looking forward to checking them out.

you can also try MAX (http://sbooth.org/Max). It seems to keep the tags and the album art from Slosh's files when converting and importing to iTunes. I haven't tried xACT so no direct comparisons from me.

Hey thanks. I'll d/l it and try it next time. My Mac is new so I'm still trying to figure out how to use it as efficiently as I was using my PC.

I thought that was pretty much a dead genre. I don't know that I own any with the exception of Dummy by Portishead, which I liked a lot.

Yeah, most of the bands in Sloshy's comp are known in the US. Heck, The Decemberists and Lucinda Williams are among my favorites, then Stephan Malkmus was the leader of Pavement, prolly my favorite 90s band. Most are indie bands with followings that are less than huge, but you can hear them on most any alt radio stations. Blitzen Trapper and Tapes 'n Tapes are fairly new on the scene, but I've heard them on Sirius more than a few times.

It's kinda it's comeback year with new albums by Portishead and Tircky as well as Thievery Corporation and Nightmares on Wax. All we need now is another Massive Attack record.

    Last Chance

I deleted the FLAC files a couple of weeks ago due to inactivity but then had someone ask for it. Don't have time to re-up FLAC but here are good quality VBR mp3 files that I'll leave up for a limited time.

You know, I felt at first that this was one of the more inaccessible YECs that's come around. I gotta say that over time, with more listens, it's making more and more sense to me. Great sequencing Paddy O' Slosh. This was a first with "Blitzen Trapper" for me, and while I still can't get the visual of a reindeer in a vicegrip out of my head, I'm diggin' it the most. Lucinda too, god bless her little heart.

    Good stuff Sloshy. Thanks again.
So, I broke into the palace
With a sponge and a rusty spanner
She said : "Eh, I know you, and you cannot sing"
I said : "That's nothing - you should hear me play piano"

Since this thread got bumped I should point out that I deleted all of the files long ago so you'll get nothing but dead links now. This in the unlikely event that someone comes along and tries to snag a copy. Oh, and don't make me set my guard dog after you
