Sound on only one side of my headphones (hooked up to receiver w/y adapter)

Hello there. I really hope someone can help me out here. I'm trying to hook up my brand new Koss Pro-4AAT's to a tube amplifier. I had to use a Y adapter (using a portable cd player) to hook my cd player up to the amp, but when I listen to music I only get sound on the right side of my headphones. How do I go about fixing this problem?

    Thanks for your help.

That "Y" connector has me curious.

Ideally, your "Y" adapter should consist of a stereo plug on one end and two RCA plugs on the other. These are not what's commonly referred to as "Y" connectors. "Y" connectors are generally a mono configuration, which could cause what you describe.

This, or something just like this, is what you should be using.
