    Bookshelf's under 400

Hey, I am planning on buying a new receiver, And I also need a good pair of speakers. I want a good bookshelf speaker for my fronts, Are there any good ones out there for under $400?

    Thanks.

Check this speaker out. I have been very pleased with the neutrality and resolution of the Ascend Acoustics CBM 170SE.

...for an inexpensive speaker would be the Onix x-ls from AV123.com. For another $20 above your limit, you can have the matching 8", 100 watt sub.

The x are quite resolving, especially for $220 on their own (no sub). Open, but not bright at all.

I would consider these very good at controlling cabinet resonance, without too much of the dreaded upper bass bloat to give the illusion of more bass.

Pretty clean without hyper-detail, which sounds unnatural to me.

Plenty of controls on the sub to help integrate to your room.

    IMO, can't go wrong!

I agree with JimmyC, onix x-ls speakers from AV123 are a great speaker.
I have them in a smaller home theater, and they sound great...smooth,
easy to listen to without listener fatigue. Beautiful finish. I don't know
how they make much money on them with there superb all veneer finish.

Good luck with what ever you get....vardo
