    Speaker wire termination options???

I'm redoing my audio system and will also redo my speaker wire terminations to standardize everything. So far the best option seems to be using Monster's spade connectors like these http://www.monstercable.com/productdisplay.asp?pin=1062 on the speakers themselves. And bannana plugs into the A/V receiver like these http://www.monstercable.com/productdisplay.asp?pin=1272. Good choice or something better out there? The bannana terminations need to allow room for 2 wires as I biwire my speakers (don't bother lecturing me on this, my Missions sound better to ME bi-wired and that's all that matters). I don't have a pro-grade crimper so was just going to go this route with Monster's self-crimping versions but am open to suggestions.

Also I may have to splice in more speaker cable for the rear surrounds as I've repositioned the receiver location. What's the best way to do this without much increase in resistance or signal loss? Changing the wire out isn't practical since one set of rears have the wires stapled in and the other set is a very difficult run thru the side walls.

    Thanks,

    G

    Bananas

    Hi, gman,

I use banana plugs on both the speaker and amp ends. Maybe I just haven't got the nack for them, but I have found Monster self-crimping connectors to be worthless. Most of my connectors are these from Parts Express ...They are less than half the Monster price which is a bonus.

Thanks Bill, that's more along the lines of what I need. Turns out the Monster version is really made for their type speaker wire with the small strands of copper wire. I use Tara Labs Prism Bi-wire and they use thick solid copper wire strands so wouldn't work anyway. The other ones I found that look really interesting are these: http://www.speakerrepair.com/Merchan...y_Code=locking and looks to be a great deal on a quality connector that can also solve the big problem with banana plugs as it locks them in place so they can't fall out!

Any one else with some input? I did find a crimper tool so maybe I should just use the plain old crimp style???

    Thanks,

    G
