    Question Speakers

I need some help building some speakers. I want to build a pair of speakers and I'll be using 2x15" woofers in each, along with the midrange and tweeter. Is it better to use ported or closed enclosure, and what should the volume of the enclosure be?

    Hi, mdbajan,

Nice you see your post. However this question would be better post another AR forum, either the Tweaks, Mods, DIY or maybe the Speakers forum.

In any case, cabinet design is a complex matter and not amenable to a simple "close" or "ported" sort of answer. For a start, there is a minium number of data that are critical to know before even a basic answer can be give: these basic data are referred to as the "Thiel-Small parameters".

There are many good books on loudspeaker design; sufficient at this point to say that they all run to hundreds of pages.
