237 Reasons To Have Sex.

A survey, detailed in the August issue of the journal Archives of Sexual Behavior, reveals what motivates a person to have sex. Researchers asked more than 400 men and women, ranging from 17 to 52 years old, to identify the various reasons why people have sex.

In all, the researchers found 237 reasons.

Here are the top 20, first for women and then for men.

Top 20 reasons WOMEN have sex:

1. I was attracted to the person.
2. I wanted to experience the physical pleasure.
3. It feels good.
4. I wanted to show my affection to the person.
5. I wanted to express my love for the person.
6. I was sexually aroused and wanted the release.
7. I was "horny."
8. It’s fun.
9. I realized I was in love.
10. I was "in the heat of the moment."
11. I wanted to please my partner.
12. I desired emotional closeness (i.e., intimacy).
13. I wanted the pure pleasure.
14. I wanted to achieve an orgasm.
15. It’s exciting, adventurous.
16. I wanted to feel connected to the person.
17. The person’s physical appearance turned me on.
18. It was a romantic setting.
19. The person really desired me.
20. The person made me feel sexy.

Top 20 reasons MEN have sex:

1. I was attracted to the person.
2. It feels good.
3. I wanted to experience the physical pleasure.
4. It’s fun.
5. I wanted to show my affection to the person.
6. I was sexually aroused and wanted the release.
7. I was "horny."
8. I wanted to express my love for the person.
9. I wanted to achieve an orgasm.
10. I wanted to please my partner.
11. The person’s physical appearance turned me on.
12. I wanted the pure pleasure.
13. I was "in the heat of the moment."
14. I desired emotional closeness (i.e., intimacy).
15. It’s exciting, adventurous.
16. The person had a desirable body.

18. The person had an attractive face.

It is interesting to note that first 8 answers from both sexes are the same

After some close observation to the two lists I find it interesting for 2 reasons:

The first, is like you already said...that the first few answers are identical.

The second is that there is a shift after the first few in that women respond more to how they are made to 'feel' from the other person, whereas the men's response is about how they wanted a certain feeling, notice the "I" statements in the men's responses, where the woman have "me" statements.
