Is it the general rule that the older portable CD-Discmans sound better?

I have been reading quite alot these days about how crappy new discmans are. That the older player's specially vintage Sony's are the way to go. Anyway, there's a D-33 on ebay at the moment. Anybody know anything about these? Thanks..

hmm, i think the "golden age" of CD players was about 3-4 years ago, the technology was about perfected, and there was still solid sales. Yeah, vintage sony's are pretty good, dunno about the D-33, but i'd probably go for it
