    where product is made

    last night i had a guy stop by looking for a 15 to 20" lcd tv; he was grilling one of my salespersons about where each display was made with the hopes of finding one made in Japan. I've never really given this much thought and i know alot of CE companies outsource parts so i asked about this and his reply was that at a certain percentage a manufacturer can claim the country with the highest percentage of parts used.
    It sounded like alot of BS but sometimes BS has some truth to it---Anyway has anyone heard of this and is your purchase decision based on product origins

    It would have to be country of assembly of final product

    However, it is often fairly common to see "Designed and Engineered in USA (Japan, some European country, etc) with the ending "Made in China", or "Assembled in China", or "Assembled in China with Parts from the US, Canada, Japan, and Korea"
