Gift for audiophile brother 70 bucks or less.

Cables out of the question. He made his own from silver. He has an ipod, a pair of maggies, a benchmark dac1, a laptop, anything u can think of. I was thinking of getting the X-Fi XMOD for him but i dunno if he's going to use it because he's already connected his laptop to his maggies via an external sound card.

Would you know if they would be available at any local stores? I looked online for grados at circuitcity and bestbuy but unfortunately they don't have them. I'm 17 so I don't have a credit card hence can't buy online...

How about a gift certificate from his favorite place to buy music?

That's a really good suggestion -- one can't have enough clean power.

A few choice cds or as said earlier cash card for a music store.

On my cd list right now:

    Love.......The Beatles

    add to that

    Anthology....Box Sets by
    Crosby Stills Nash and Young
    Jimi Hendrix
    Bob Dylan
    Eric Clapton
    Carlos Santana
    Eagles
    Rolling Stones
    Fleetwood Mac

Most of the above have audio quality equal to the performance level of the artist.
You should be able to put a few together to meet the $70 budget.

    Music!
CD's? LP's? The gift cert may be the best bet unless you know of a couple of disks he's been wanting.

Yes a gift certificate is a cop-out gift, but one he's sure to use & enjoy!
