Nice. I'm gonna compare the protractor to my regular one tomorrow and see what's what.

Here's a supply of some of THE BEST speaker designs out there, all of which use relatively inexpensive parts.

    zaphaudio.com

For about $100, you can build a pair of the Silver Flute-based speakers, which are supposed to be excellent. $160 will get you a pair of Dayton MTMs. Both of these are brilliant designs that are superior to anything you're likely to find under $400.

    Very nice, Bert!!!

Man, my Maggies suck at 85hz and too much output at 60 hz in my room. I may have to upgrade to keep my sanity

We need more more members to contribute to this thread!!!!

JRA I did not use the protractor but I did use his method for setting anti skate by listening. In the past I used a blank band on my Cardas sweep record and adjusted anti skating so the tonearm would remain in place as the disc spins. It would neither skate to the inner nor outer part of the record. Following his instructions and starting at 0 and advancing until both channels sounded equal was very simple. As he writes once you go to far you will know it. A definite sonic improvement. Thanks.

You can get a free dvd from B&W here:
    http://www.bwhifi.com/800_series/flash_en.html
If it's the same one I have from them (the name is the same), it's a good one. Some good dts stuff on it. It may take awhile to get in the mail................
Click on "Get A DVD" in lower right corner.

Well here's a few I've actually signed up for:

If you have kids, Free CD Offer with Book purchase:
    http://www.barnesandnoble.com/specia...?r=1&PID=22328

If you like Soccer, free DVD from Nike:
    http://www.nike.com/nikesoccer/tiempo/dvd_flash.html

If you like Salvador Dali and you don't mind paying $2 shipping, here's a free DVD:
    http://dalinet.com/videos/freedoorwaytodali.html

Free CD offer from Chris Singleton - you get a free download or if you sign up 3 friends, they send you the actual CD:
    http://www.singletonmusic.com/

Free NIN download of their Slip CD, even in lossless WAV format, if you want:
    http://dl.nin.com/theslip/signup
...and the first nine tracks from their Ghosts I-IV release:
    http://ghosts.nin.com/main/order_options

And then there's the ubiquitous demo disks that are offered by everyone from THX to Samsung. Here's a site that actually reviews them, although you'll probably need to contact the individual companies to get the disks: http://www.demo-world.eu/demo-dvds/

I searched for bigger freebies, like TVs and actually gear, but they all require lengthy signups, commitments, or for you to give them your whole contact list. I do have to give credit to artists that offer their music online for free, even if you have to sign up with your email.
