    Give Rockbox a try..

    More functionality (hard bookamrking, gapless playback...).

    Rockbox has some glitches such as requiring hard reboots every so often, but it's a nice looking alternative. Linux is another option, and actually Rockbox runs on top of a basic Linux install.

    if you need to restore everything back to the way it was, just download the OS from apple's web site (just make sure you back up your files to another device first).

    iPod linux has been on LONG LONG running project...

    oh well, at least it allows you to play homebrew games, and ported ones, even DOOM!!!

    yup, eventually all people will realise life is just better with a 'pod

    hmm, that reminds me, i should really check if they've got a version sepcific for the 5G, i betcha they have, i haven't checked in months...
