    Onkyo TX-SV313Pro

Just came into possession of an old (I guess) Onkyo TX-SV313Pro receiver. Is this a decent box or should I keep my audio hooked up to my Sony DGT-500 HT receiver. First post and audio neophyte, so all responses appreciated.

    Older Onkyo

I have the Onkyo TX-SV414 Pro. It's a very good little reciever. I bought mine in 1995, back when Onkyo still made very good equipment. Your surround options will be limited with this unit (It should have only Pro-Logic sound), but the stereo sound should be very good. Whether it's better than your Sony dependds on 2 things. First, is this system more for Home Theatre or Audio? If it's for audio, the Onkyo will beat the Sony hands down (in my experience), if it's for HT the Sony might be better. Second, how new is the Sony? If it's a newer version it will support surround formats that the Onkyo won't. In this case the Sony will be better for HT and might be as good for audio.
I use my system much more for audio than HT, so I would go with the Onkyo. If I used my system for HT a lot, I'd have to give the Sony a serious look.
