    Name your ultimate match up...

Receiver or AMP/combo and one source unit and two main speakers only... It's all about keeping it simple, and only name the mfg., not like, the model numbers and stuff, for example:

Halcro ampliflication with Wilson Audio speakers and a Meridian CD for the source.

    Ummmmm!

Gryphon Trident speakers powered by Gryphon Antileon amps and Gryphon Mikado CD player. I've heard this setup at a convention and was floored! Just think...it's only around $250,000.

Although the speakers were VS-9se, and the source was DAT master tape. The DartZeel was overkill though, even with just a watt of power those speakers could shake the walls!

I think the DartZeels are used less for their wattage per se, moreso for their ability to handle difficult amplifier loads...

Yes, the VR-9s are also quite a speaker... They kind of reminded me of the VR-11s, but cut in half. One half of a VR-11 would be more than plenty for most folks.

I wouldn't mind either the Gryphon Trident or Poseidon's. I liked your idea Flo of using their reference for the bass panel.

    Wilson WP7's
    ARC mono's
    Wadia transport/dac

    or

    VR11's
    VAC Mono's
    Meitner transport/dac

BTW, for those of you unfamiliar with the Von Schweikert's, they are 15hz-35khz (+/- 1) or 10hz-50khz (+/-6) with 99dB sensitivity. The specs aren't an exaggeration, trust me. Oh yeah, they only weight 693 lbs...each!
