    Looking for some new speakers...

Been A while since Ive posted here, When I first came here I was looking for a receiver and speakers and ended up with a HK 3480 and using some old cerwin vegas that we have had for a while. Well the surrounds on one of the vegas have started to fall apart so its time for some new speakers.

Basically I'm just looking for a 2 channel setup maybe 2.1 that has decent low end as I listen to mostly rock/hard rock but also some Tool and A perfect circle which has some low stuff in it. I'm only looking to spend 200-300ish but might go higher if i find something at a good price / worth it.

So if anyone has any suggestions on something that might be good for me i would appreciate it.

PS. I had a 200% better post written up and accidentally hit the back button on my mouse and lost all of it so at this point to don't really want to write a whole lot....

I have a set of paradigm atoms, I listen to mostly rock/hardrock too, and I can say that these little buggers put up quite a fight! ya, if you really want to you can add a sub later to fill in the last few notes that the atoms can't hit, but other than that, these are some badass speakers, and for $180 or less, the price kicks ass to!

I'll second the Atoms and add the Titans to the list. I got mine for $220 US at the local stereo shop. They seem a bit wider than the Atoms and sound great.

If you could stretch your budget a bit you might be able to get a pair of paradigm mini monitors, those are the starting speakers from the series up.

I have an 8" Kenwood passive subwoofer hooked up to my HT for my XBOX games & when I play a classic rap cd ( easy-e or Dre's old Chronic cd ) you can hear it outside my house 30' away from my b.room wall.

You won't be able to get a good sub in that price range, the mini monitors will fill up your room just fine, when I auditionned them, I was in a huge open display room, they filled they place up imensly well. no sub needed with these babies for music, and unless you really want that thum for movies (and you budget doesn't really allow it ether) don't bother with the sub, them mini's will fill your room fine!

If he wants to hear 3 years from now a $300.00 sub for a 2hour movie will work fine. Why spend over what you can can w/ out having to choose over food to eat or box that thumps. just to hear a boom.I spent 320 on my kenwood sub & in my 20'x20'LR it raddles the windows & moves the pictures.Anything over that is overkill.
