DVD/CD/Universal Players Too Lose Sleep Over

Talking strictly about sound quality on 2 channel CD's primarily, whether hooked up by analogue cables or fiber optics cable, does anyone wish to volunteer the name & original retail price of the model, even if its several years ol,. that produces noticeable better sound then other players. I am not interested in DVD-A or SACD performance, just sound coming from a regular 2 channel CD, albeit I'm fine with listening to it on 5 channels. One such mode banded about here is the Denon 1910. I'm volunterring, albeit a "poor man's sleeper" the Harmon Kardon 31 DVD player. Any more to add on. Nothing over $1200 retail list though. Also please state what cables you used with this by brand & number. Features that have nothing to do with sound quality are ireelevant for this thread.
