    crt misalignment?

on my parent's tv (toshiba 20" flat crt, no more than 2 years old) there seems to be some colour distortion on thin, vertical white lines. This happens on all sources, and if the lines pan across the screen it tends to cycle through the three colours (green and red are most obvious.) It looks to me like perhaps the green is out of alignment or something? I don't know quite enough about how a picture tube works to know if this is possible. Is there any remedy for this? Would it be an expensive repair?

    thanks,
    Will

    Will,

If the TV has convergence points (usually a center surrounded by 8 other points), you should be able to line up the guns yourself, at least to a certain extent. Check the video menu system. It should allow you to line up the color on white lines so that you see no fringing.
