Got my hands on the new Rush dvd today...

Looks like a real nice set with plenty of old school extras.

$19.99 for 2 dvd's at BestBuy. That to me is an excellent deal.

Here's one thing that I do not like tho - the damn easter egg thing.

Why oh why do they do that?

    Oh well.

I'll watch it soon and review for ya'll, esp. Troy.

    Eggs

If they are easy to find I will advise. But I generally don't have the patience to "look" for stuff like that...

Heck, I haven't even found the one(s) in Rush in Rio for crying out loud!

Watched a killer old school Rush gig last night, Exit Stage Left on VHS.

    It's an excellent show.

VHS is great. You pop it in and push "play" and be done with it...

    LMAO!

Read my post in your XBox thread. We posted, essentially, the same idea, at the same time, in different threads. Old geezer minds think alike!

    Smart a$$!

I am curious about it, but if it's much like the "Rio" disc, I think you will feel hosed by the band.

    now

I am watching this DVD right now, and it is excellent.

The "stereo" mix is excellent, and the video quality is excellent.

On a killer hi-def AV system this pup would rool.

Rush ain't no ordinary band, that's for sure. Cream of the crop.

It had to be a computer geek that designed the DVD format, what with the layered sublevel programming just to watch a damn movie!

I haven't done it in like a year, but if I remember correctly you get to a menu on the 2nd disc. The menu has like 3-4 choices, and all you have to do is choose the items in order as follows:

    2
    1
    1
    2

As in "click the 2nd link, go back, click the first link, go back, click the first link, go back, click the 2nd link, go back" and the egg opens up for you. It's the By Tor video from the R30 tour.

Honestly I don't remember exactly which menu you do that from, but it was one of the main ones, I know that. Like I said, I haven't done it in a long time.

What a pain in the ass.

They just should add it as a bonus or something like that.

    review

Watched the 1st dvd last night.

The video is beautiful, clear as a window.

The audio in 2 channel is excellent as well.

Great set list too and great, inspired playing.

A must have for any Rush fan. At least in my opinion.

    Well,

Why make a customer "hunt" for tracks on a product?

Immature marketing. Typical Rush fans are 40-ish and we don't go for that nonsense.

Depends on who's on the receiving end. Me, I can dish it out but I can't take it.

I'll be on the prowl early in the AM Friday, and I'm hoping its on sale so I can rub it in...

It's such a moment of status to be among the first ten or so people in line waiting in front of a retail chain...people look at you with such envy...I see people coming up to the very long line and I'll make a pointing gesture to the spot in front me, then I'll raise my hand up to my face and rub my thumb and fingers together in the universal 'money' gesture. Having broken his/her spirit, I'll triumphantly sip from my latte' cup (which will have been empty for the past 30 minutes, but it helps to have a prop in those circumstances so as to look suddenly busy). Do they call me names? Certainly, but if you laugh moniacally, loudly, it takes the edge off.

    Cheers,

3LB (shamelessly padding his post count)

It's fun. It's a little gimmick and is nothing more than a 20 second game.

Like I said, immature Marketing or Product Management.

They should ask customers what they prefer as opposed to doing what they want to.

Yeah, having to think for a second when you pop in a DVD is just the end all of civilization. When I hit the sofa I want to drown out all thought

Actually, with the digital age being what it is, it's no wonder they put all that stuff on dvd's these days.

But I'm just an old man who prefers to have his options laid out in front of him as opposed to have to search for stuff on a dvd.

And I do still enjoy the simplicity of vinyl and VHS.

And I do appreciate the power of dvd. And cd, for all that matters.

Try some Camel dvd's or Pallas. Excellent.

What is this disc called and what, exactly is on it?

Trying to find it on netflix . . .

I hate easter eggs on DVDs. Stupid. Just put all the stuff on the chapter selection page. Why are they HIDING stuff from us that we PAID for? The whole thing is bass ackwards.

    Holmes,

It's called R30 and it's a show they filmed in Germany on the recent tour.

It's quite good, video quality is superb.

And those stupid ass easter eggs are somewhere on disc 2.

    Dave
