    SPDIF or TOSLINK?

    Which is better, if that comparison can be made. I know SPDIF is usually much cheaper.

    Neither is better. Just a different way of transmitting data. Over extremely long runs, optical cable has advantages, in home however, there isn't anything special about one over the other. SPDIF is a bit more durable.
