    Albums Not Listened To

Okay, F.A. I listened to two albums over the weekend.

I've been listening to the Flower Kings lately, so I decided to go back to two solo released by their keyboard player, Tomas Bodin.

The two are: Pinup Guru from 2002, and Sonic Boulevard from 2003.

I was really surprised at how much I disliked Pinup Guru, given how much I like Bodin's playing with TFKs. It's like the guy wanted to put out an album and had no musical thoughts.

But then I put on Sonic Boulevard, and I really liked it. Of course, most of the FKs help out, some on just some tracks, some on every track. This album is a little more on the jazzy and soft prog side and not bombastic at all. It is generally very melodic with some killer grooves and excellent guitar parts. The highlite for me is Morning Will Come. So, I highly recommend this album to FK fans and prog/jazz fans.

Bodin has a new album coming out this summer that's some kind of 70 minute concept album. I think I read that it's all one track.

    Ignore Pinup Guru.
