matching ohms on amp and speakers

My speakers are minimum 4ohms and nominal 6ohms. If my amp gives me the choice to plug into 4 ohms and 8 ohms which do I plug into?? Does this really make a difference?

Is your amp a vacuum tube amplifier, or a solid state amplifier with a 4 & 8 Ohm switch at the back?

the amps i'm considering are the Jolida 1701 hybrid tube amp and the Rotel Ra-01 solid state. The Rotel has the option of 4ohms and 8ohms but the Jolida has only 8ohms.

Since they both have solid state output stages I don't think you'll have any problems with either device. Such impedance matching is only critical in output transformer coupled amplifiers.
BTW, I see that many setups involve low impedance (and low sensitivity) Magnepan speakers on AR reviews: http://www.audioreview.com/Amplifier...9_1583crx.aspx
