I've been pretty busy at work so I've been not listening to a lot of stuff lately. Some notable platters not spinned this past week:

    Supertramp's Crime of the Century

    The Beatles, Help!

    A bunch of early Cure

The British version of The Clash's debut album

The entire Radiohead catalog other than Amnesiac

Actually, I'm not listening to Shake Those Monkey Bones right now, although I'd like to. Gotta wait until my headache goes away. No, I didn't mean her. I really do have a headache. Who is gonna say a prayer for me?

I always say, fight fire with fire! If you wait until your headache is gone to listen, you'll just get another one. Make that first headache-inducing listen count for something!

Wow, that was pretty fast delivery. Just mailed it Monday morning. To all my brothers and sisters working long and hard hours in the United States Post Office, going the extra mile to get my comps delivered safely and quickly, I salute you! Now put that beer down and get back to work delivering the other 10 comps I mailed!

One Monday morning a mailman is walking the neighborhood on his usual route. As he approaches one of the homes he noticed that both cars were in the driveway. His wonder was cut short by Davey, the homeowner, coming out with a load of empty beer and liquor bottles.

"Wow Davey, looks like you guys had one heck of a party last night." the mailman comments.

Davey, in obvious pain, replies, "Actually we had it Saturday night. This is the first I have felt like moving since 4:00 am Sunday morning. We had about fifteen couples from around the neighborhood over and it got a bit wild. Hell, we got so drunk around midnight that we started playing " WHO AM I."

The mailman thinks a moment and says, "How do you play that?"

Davey replied, "Well all the guys go in the bedroom and we come out one at a time with a sheet covering us and only our "privates" showing through a hole in the sheet. Then the women try to guess who it is."

The mailman laughs and says, "Damn, I'm sorry I missed that."

"Probably a good thing you did," Davey responds. "Your name came up four or five times."

I'm not playing the vinyl copy of Bob Dylan's Desire that I picked up at lunch. I promised myself last night I would get one, and I did. Along with 2 John Hartford lps, a John Hammond, and dave Loggins' Apprentice In A Musical Workshop. The only reason I am not playing any of these is that I have no TT at work. Almost time to remedy this situation, too...........

Just got off the phone with a friend headed to the Duran Duran concert (he's putting himself through this because he loves his wife ... like I told him, he's a better man than I am!). THAT crap is not playing today, or any Wednesday, or any other day, for the past two decades.

I'm not listening to Brian Wilson's Smile, I was so disappointed by that CD that I put it away after a few weeks and am unlikely to listen to it again. Why is that album considered to be so great?

I'm also not listening to anything in the UK singles charts with the possible exception of Elvis, I'm clearly too old for that stuff.

I'm not listening to most of the junk most people like.

I'm not listening to the Stones, Beatles, or any of the new bands.

I'm not listening to any jazz, rap, country, blues, or classical.

I have given up on music.

I am now a reality tv addict and am watching only court tv and the food channel.

I only listen to Nintendo Super Mario music.

    Yeth, right.

But really, I am not listening to anything right now. I brought in some "new" Aersomith cdr's that Darren made me a while ago to listen to while I translate patterns but haven't booted them up yet.

I listened to Arena - Contagion on the way in this AM.

Though I jst came home from the record store, I am not listening to...

    Eels - Electro-shock Blues
    Pinback - Summer in Abondon
Sufjan Stevens - Greetings from Michigan The Great Lake State (vinyl)
Sun Kil Moon - Ghosts of the Great Highway

Why? I was listening to Pinback, but I got caught up reading the Nirvana V. Joy Division thread, and couldn't help but take it off and put on "Closer".

Edit: BTW, why haven't you graced my mailbox with any comp d'blues lately? If you hit me w/ a couple, I could send you these 2 discs, if you're interested. I hope you can read the titles from the scan.

Editedit: Couldn't read the scan. Disc 1 is a Best Buy exclusive, w/ tracks from EC (Layla live), Cream (BBC recording), Weezer (Sweater Song demo), The Who (Love Ain't For Keeping, live- Moon is incredible on this one. Incredibly bad), Lynyrd Skynyrd (Simple Man, live), Marvin Gaye (Let's Get It On demo) and Bob Marley (Stir It Up, live).

Disc 2 is from Paste mag (www.pastemagazine.com- if you go there and click on cover art for the Bright Eyes disc, you'll get a PDF file that I couldn't load). Artists include: Bright Eyes, Low, Aqualung, Kathleen Edwards, Ben Lee, Sputnik, Lou Barlow, Diego Sandrin, Eisley, Reckless Kelly, Mary Gauthier, Amos Lee, Al Green, Christopher Williams, The Duhks, Mando Saenz, Reid Jaieson, Ivy, Slow Motion Reign, Aquaduct and once again, Bright Eyes.

    Yeah, I'm such a butthead.

Actually, I keep meaning to...owe lots of folks, but just haven't been able to get to it. Today it was gardening and plumbing that took precedence. I planted a tree, dug up lots of other crap, put metal borders around the shrubs, spread mulch, and generally made my 51 year old muscles extremely sore. I also repaired my toilet which makes my wallet very happy.

I've got some long overdue vacation coming up in a couple of weeks and I'll try to get another comp worked out and get a 'set' to you and several other folks.

I'd love to get the stuff you mentioned.

BTW, know what else I haven't been listening to?

    Savoy Brown
New Riders of the Purple Sage
    Green Day
    Blue Mountain
    Simply Red
    Black Sabbath
    Agent Orange
    Yellowman
    Pink
    Silverchair
    Golden Earring

    or Cher

I figured you'd want to know.

    Cool.

But what's this fixation you have with Cher?!?

Please, please- don't spend your vacation working on comps, for God's sake!

I'll get them 2 discs to you in the next couple months.

KP (knot playing): Petra Haden sings The Who's The Who Sellout. But I'd sure like to hear this. There's a thread over at the other RR on it: http://www.audioasylum.com/scripts/t.pl?f=rock&m=46666
