    More HDTV Questions & Recommendations

If you have HDTV and a show is broadcast on HD, do you have to switch a button or something to get it shown on HD or will it automatically be shown on your TV as such.

Do DVD's look better on HDTV's than regular TV's?

Pricewise, for TV's under 30" which HDTV's, are the cheapest and best bargains?

Likewise, for TV's over 45" which HDTV's are the cheapest and best bargains?

Depends on how you get HD to your TV...some have separate channels in HD like the DBS and Cable Company boxes, others have built-in tuners that you have to access to get the HD. Ask your salesperson the particulars on the tv you're looking at.

Generally speaking, yes...they should display the full and true 480p signal with no problem, which you simply can't see on a non ed/hd tv. Some video processors (i.e. Faroujda and Silicon Image) should look better on a good display than most joe-blow 10bit video DACs

You can probably find a good Panasonic or Samsung fairly inexpensively. Make sure you look for geometry problems, however, on the CRT sets. Scrolling words make an easy test. Look around the edges.

Mits makes a great 48" RPHDTV. Samsung and Panasonic are pretty inexpensive, but for a little money more, you'll get a LOT more video control and tweakability that you may not think you need now...but you'll have the calibration tweak bug before you know it...especially if you hang around this place. Happy Hunting!
