DIY Audio Rack

I have been wanting to build an Audio Rack. I came across this very attractive simple design that I thought that I would share-

Some time this spring or summer I am going to build this out of Cocobolo wood or cherry. Instead of the wood shelving, I may use thick tempered glass, and I will add a nice back panel to hide the cables.

Looks nice. Personally I don't have the precision power tools to do that design, but with the right tools it should be easy. Also, I'm not sure that my local Home Depot carries 25mm (2") plywood.

There are plenty of custom lumbar yards here that carry finish grade birch plywood or they can order it. I may use glass shelves for the middle shelf's and wood for the top and bottom to hold the thing together. Glass won't warp over time under the weight of my 60lb Parasound and 55lb Adcom AVR. In this design there are no cross braces under the wood to prevent warping under heavy load and heat. Putting in a wood back panel to hide all the wires would help.

I am still looking at other designs though. I have some tools needed such as a table saw, compound miter box and jig saw. But my friend probably has $20K-30k worth of woodworking tools and machines. You can simplify the design by not curving the supports and just use a rectangular shape. But I think the curve is a nice touch and adds character.
