    Got my car yesterday

Not really music related unless you count the stereo has an input I use to jack in my mp3 player. Also has no problem playing VBR mp3 CDs. Who cares about that when you got a Hemi soundtrack?

    Its a badass.

I finally saw one on the road the other day...too bad they (Chysler) delayed the release of these things by a year, but man oh man, the retro Mustang finally has an equal...time for Chevy to get in gear with a retro Camaro or Chevelle (the Camaro in the movie Transformers is a prototype Camaro, based on a Corvette platform, but would be considerably more expensive than the Mustang or the Challenger).

I feel sorry for all those new Charger owners who've just plopped down serious bank for a car that is obviously the "Jan Brady" to this "Marcia".

Is it so far gone to be beyond restoration? I like the front end, bumpers, side markers, and tail lights on the '70 much, much more but they can be fitted easily to a '73.

Across the street from one of my friend's house is '68 Barracuda (nothing special, just a 318) that has been sitting there for years. Ten years ago I asked the owner if he was willing to sell but he says he's gonna restore it. Nothing has been done in all that time. Car hasn't even been moved.

Only thing retro about my '09 is the exterior styling. It has Mercedes previous generation E Class suspension and not surprisingly rides like a sporty Benz, especially at hyper illegal speeds. That "little" Hemi is under rated at 375 horses. All of the chassis dyno testing I've seen thus far are measuring between 334 and 347HP at the rear wheels and these have all been automatic cars which have a more restrictive exhaust than the manuals like mine. You can count on between 15 and 20% loss from the flywheel to rear wheels (for automatic cars) which puts it in the low 400 HP range. There's a lot of mass to move but it's still faster than I'll ever need. Also Chrysler is rating this engine at 5200 RPM and it's still pulling strong beyond that until its redline (5800 RPM).

I wish I had something better than a $100 Olympus camera but you get the idea.

I still haven't seen one on the road. They really did a nice job from what I can see in the pictures. Glad gas prices are coming down, so you can really enjoy it. My best friend in high school got a 1971 Challenger with the 440 in it when we got out of the service. I got a 1969 Z28 so we had some good times blowing off steam. Long live muscle cars.

Lookin' good I can't help thinking though, that most of the early '70s jobs had racing stripes of some kind or other. The current models would look more retro, IMO, with stripes; are they an option??

I've seen a prototype (in magazines) with a stripe. I think it was a Cuda mock-up.

Nice work Sloshy, that's too sweet...racing stripe or no. I haven't really read too much about 'em but there seems to be quite a stir in these parts concerning their release.

So who's taking bets on to when the first ticket is written and the first summons served?
So, I broke into the palace
With a sponge and a rusty spanner
She said : "Eh, I know you, and you cannot sing"
I said : "That's nothing - you should hear me play piano"

You can get stripes if you want 'em. Me, I like to let the car's shape speak for itself so no stripes for me. There's hardly even any badging on the car. The only place it say Challenger anywhere is on the grill and inside only above the glove compartment. Hemi badges on the hood scoops, and R/T on the grill, and Dodge on the reverse light and that's it.

Ha, I got an 80 in a 55 two weeks ago in my 130 horsepower Mazda Protege. First ticket I've had in at least five years. 4 points, ouch Luckily my insurance company is clueless (based in Texas ) and never finds out about these things going on my past experiences. Hell, I'm lucky if I get my insurance cards on time.

I saw one of those on the road yesterday and they really do look like the school yard bully that could beat the crap out of any other car on the road...and I mean that in a good way.

Good choice on not getting the stripes. Sometimes less is more. It's a beautiful car no matter how you look at it. Drive it safely.
