Simple... longevity of creativity for the remaining members. PE just disappeared after the whole Grif blowup, although I must say that I prefer PE's fire and political stance.

Ya know, you almost had me with that argument. The NWA boys did go on the greatness on their own, and they were strong together. Hell, if you take the solo work of Dre and Ice Cube together, that's just hard to argue aginst. But, just judging NWA output against Public Enemy, I gotta go with PE, just 'cause I really can't remember the last time I listened to Straight Outta Compton, but I still give a listen to Fear of a Black Planet or Nation of Millions with some regularity. The Bomb Squad beats on those two are just spectacular.
