    Favorite Roxy Music Songs

Any Roxy Music in your collection?

Whirlpool (Siren): A song on steroids

More Than This (Avalon): Wish the album was as strong as the opening song.

Same Old Scene (Flesh+Blood): A throat grabber.

I borrowed a friends box set 'The Thrill of it all', listened to all 4 discs and burned these songs:

    Ladytron
    The Thrill of it all
    A song for Europe
    Stronger through the years
    Dance Away
    Same Old scene
    My only Love
    No Strange delight
    Avalon
    The Main Thing

The only Roxy I own is the Live at the apollo DVD, I had borrowed a couple VCR tapes of classic era Roxy from the same source, seeing the band perform made it all click for me, didn't appreciate them before that..

not my favorite song (that's probably Both Ends Burning from Siren if I had to pick one), but so cool to see them live, esp. Brian Eno(!) in this clip from the Old Grey Whistle Test, 1972

    Thanks guys

The 4Cd box set or Best Of is probably the safest bet to get introduced to this band as it does contain most of their best songs from Roxy music. But if deciding to explore their music more, probably the best start would be from Flesh+Blood as IMO that is their best album.

    More Than This
    Love Is The Drug

A band I tried to 'get into' but couldn't, just like Joy Division. The songs I listed are awesome though, Imo.

Joy Divison was one band I could never get into, but found Roxy Music much more accessible and user friendly. But on the same note, one probably will find alot of influence of RM in Joy Division music.

I have the s/t LP and the "Virginia Plain" 7". Never heard anything that struck me beyond that.
