Adam, check out the video package they put out of the same work...ethereal and yet...

So, I broke into the palace
With a sponge and a rusty spanner

I said : "That's nothing - you should hear me play piano"

This is an incredible album done in acoustic.
Truly one of the best albums around. I really need to get this on LP.

I'm not a huge fan of Nirvana, but their MTV Unplugged is great as well as one by Lauren Hill and Cranberries. Perhaps start a thread on this?

I have some VHS tapes loaded up with Unplugged performances. Those three are all on them. I thought the Cranberries performance was fantastic. Of course, the Nirvana one goes without saying.

    Now spinning...

Diana is so good it seems like a cliche to even mention it.

    Sanborn rawks!!

Death Cab For Cutie - The Open Door EP

This is okay, but DCFC could have just stopped after Something About Airplanes and We Have the Facts.... This EP sounds like a rehash of everything else they've done.
And the world will turn to flowing pink vapor stew.

I played all of my Police SACDs this weekend, for the first time in ages. Zenyatta Mondatta is one of my all-time favorite albums and sounds stunning on SACD.

Well, I like The Crossing better, but it is a good album. I think The Seer is a fine album as well.

I picked up a Ronnie Montrose album, produced by Edgar Winter, at the last record show and finally got around to playing it. I think it may be his first solo, it features a song called Open Fire, on the other side I remember Rocky Road. It's on Warner Bros Any way this is an excellent album, Rock instrumental, some could consider it Prog. Not sure the weight of the Lp but it's a heavier pressing and the sound quality is great, good production there Edgar.

I like The Crossing too. Both their first (The Crossing) and second album (Steeltown) was produced by Steve Lillywhite which like to have big bold sound. And Big Country delieverd.

But they pretty much lost me after Seer album

    Joshua Redman

Just fantastic. I'm on a real kick of his lately. I now have 5 of his albums. The JR Elastic band features Flea and M'chelle Ndegeocello. Anyone looking for something new and refreshing in jazz, check him out.

I don't have this one but do have 6 plus a SF Jazz Collective where he directed. He's a terrific player. Over the long haul, I can't say that I like the funk infused Elastic band much (Momentum, Elastic). They were real fun for a few listens but then I got tired of them. In my opinion his compositions don't live up to his playing skills; his covers are generally good though. That said, I think my overall favorite of his has to be Beyond, in which all are his compositions. Unlike the rest, this one gets better with repeat listening and is worth checking out if you haven't. Freedom in the Groove would be next up on my list.

What a sensational album. I have this on CD and I couldn't believe how amazing it sounded. Wonderful imaging and excellent detail and seperation. These songs feature Jim Hall, Gerry Mulligan and Connie Kay.

    Collecting the Kid by El-P.

    Hey Poppa,
I think you are about the only one who listens to hiphop on this site.
I'm wondering if you've heard the album High Water. If you haven't heard El-P, you should check it out. I'll Sleep When you are Dead is a great album, but doesn't quite bring out what makes him great. But, Collecting the Kid, on the other hand is a great instrumental album. I prefer this type of album over MF Doom's Special Herbs.

    Have Fun,
    JRA
