My listening collage for the last couple weeks, give or take, would look something like this ...click for bigger image. And of course, many were just partial listens.

If I was a girl monkey, I'd like to think it would take a little more than a ripe banana to get me to the monkey chapel...
Tonight is turning into a New Order night, with Power, Corruption & Lies now. Maybe some Low-Life later.

Just got mine in the mail and it sounds great. I talked with dude via email and he said that he still has about 500 (out of the run of 900) left. Just over $30 ppd from the UK depending on what the exchange rate is on any given day. Well worth it!

First spin and it is meeting expectations :)

James Blake for me. I'm really liking this. Got a 24/96 vinyl rip going on and it sounds good. Kinda glitchy UK electronica singer-songwriter stuff, but more interesting than that description sounds.

Uploading some James Blake 24/96 vinyl rip to my song of the day right now, and listening to Mark Lanegan Whiskey for the Holy Ghost ...

I like that James Blake as well, although I'm not always a fan of his vocals. I'm particularly interested in the bass sounds he uses and the production over all. If you're more into the production than the voice, you may wanna check out Mount Kimbie: Crooks & Lovers. They've worked together and share some similar musical elements.
Right now, listening to:

Zomes: Earth Grid
This one's a solo release from former Lungfish guitarist Asa Osborne. If a bit, ok a lot, of repetition doesn't bother you and you like droney, distorted keyboards, this will hit the spot. Not totally drone based as all the songs are backed up by some minimalistic drum loops and generally in addition to the drone keyboard parts, he tosses in a secondary more melodic keyboard bit in the background. No vocals. Fuzzy and trancelike. I actually quite like this.

Oh, nevermind, just dawned on me that was coming. I think they've been pretty careful with it. Did you find lossless?

OK, me too now, though 320 mp3 is all I could find. Sounds OK though. Music is very cool. I'm gonna be definitely snagging this whenever it hits the store. Thanks for the head up.

FLAC purchase:

I convert to WMA Lossless for my own personal use (since WMA Lossless is the most compatible lossless format with my software and compresses slightly smaller than FLAC-8).

No, just the music. This is the second album I've purchased in FLAC (last year's Les Savy Fav was my first). I don't really care about the artwork or liner notes. If I did I would buy it on vinyl in any case. I burned my own back-up (in addition to my music library back-up external HDD).

Darryl Jenifer: In Search of Black Judas
Bad Brains bassist releases his first solo project on ROIR records and it's been worth the wait. I'll take this over the HR solo stuff any day. It starts out with a brief spoken introduction before the snarling guitars roll in and the music opens with an almost I Against I sort of vibe, just making sure you know this is one of the Bad brains here. After that, it settles back into some experimental dub mixed with straight reggae and a bit of quiet storm, with occasional moments of those familiar guitars rearing their heads. I'm really digging this one. Obviously not for the reggae purists, but if you're looking for some laid back dubby sounds and want something new, you could do a hell of a lot worse.

That's quite an eclectic list there, Rae Rae. Nice.

Tunng: Mothers Daughter and Other Songs
Still been testing the avant garde and folk-tronic here and there. Been enjoying these. Hard to determine if they are old style English folk songs that have been noodled around with samples and noises or analog electronic pieces that have been placed on top of folk forms. Either way, generally pleasant and melodic.

The Books: The Lemon of Pink
This one I've enjoyed very much. Picked up the CD remaster and heartily recommend it for anyone looking for something oddly spellbinding and absorbing that your just not going to hear anywhere else. This is it.
Mostly, as you might imagine, I've been listening to a lot of AR comps and attempting an avant garde comp, which isn't turning out to be very easy.
**wow, sorry about the big pics, I usually link to smaller ones...**
