bump! Another summer, another slate of touring shows to consider. I think I'm going to hit up these for sure:

July 21st (early show) - Mavis Staples at the Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater (Apple Valley, MN)
July 21st (late show) - Savages at the Triple Rock Social Club (Minneapolis)
July 24th - Merle Haggard and Shooter Jennings at Riverfront Park (Mankato, MN)
August 6th - Criaturas at the Lyndale VFW (Minneapolis)
August 24th - Blue Öyster Cult at the Minnesota State Fair (St. Paul, MN)
September 13th - FLAG (the Keith Morris / Chuck Dukowski / Dez Cadena / Bill Stevenson version of Black Flag, not the Greg Ginn / Ron Reyes version) at First Avenue (Minneapolis)
September 20th - Legendary Pink Dots at the 7th St Entry (Minneapolis)
September 22nd - Scout Niblett at Ice House

Die Kreuzen is playing with Melvins and Mudhoney among others tonight but I've been cautioned that the set's overwhelmingly later bad Die Kreuzen rather than early good Die Kreuzen so I think I'm going to skip it. Would love to go see Depeche Mode in August but tickets are ridiculous expensive. Also thinking about going to see Jerry Jeff Walker at the zoo. I might tag along with some friends to a fest in Louisville in September and see Mayo Thompson (performing all of Corky's Debt to his Father!) along with Bill Orcutt and Chris Corsano, Wolf Eyes, Hair Police, and some others... and a friend of mine is trying to convince me to go see Goblin in Montréal in October!

What are y'all looking forward to?

Nice! Had no idea of this Mayo Thompson gig - one of my all time fave albums. Any idea if he's doing other shows around?
Also, Goblin, like the Italian progg-y Goblin?! They're still around?
Nothing much on my upcoming show list...
Savages at 1st Ave. (missed tix for the sold-out Triple Rock show)
Maybe Steve Gunn opener at Triple Rock on Monday

Not sure! That's the only one I've heard about so far.

Yup! This is actually the first time they've ever played in the U.S., I think. They're also playing a show in Chicago on 10/13 if that's less daunting...

Going to see Dawes tomorrow at a free outdoor show at Long's Park in Lancaster, PA. Also have tickets to see Pinback again at Union Transfer in Philly on 9/11, and Richard Thompson at the Whitaker in Harrisburg, PA sometime in September.

Not sure about other summer shows, but I'm sure I'll pick off a couple more if I can find someone I really want to see.
I call my bathroom Jim instead of John so I can tell people that I go to the Jim first thing every morning.

If you say the word 'gullible' very slowly it sounds just like oranges.
