Taylor Swift on the same album as Arcade Fire and The Decemberists? EEK!!!

The soundtrack to the upcoming movie, The Hunger Games. Which I highly recommend as a great read...don't let the fact that it's classified as a 'teen' book turn you off. This trilogy is very well written and a great read...but I digress...

Safe & Sound (feat. The Civil Wars) -Taylor Swift

Eyes Wide Open - Taylor Swift

    Abraham's Daughter - Arcade Fire

The Ruler & The Killer - Kid Cudi

Run Daddy Run (feat. Pistol Annies) - Miranda Lambert

    Kingdom Come -The Civil Wars

    One Engine -The Decemberists

    Take The Heartland -Glen Hansard

Lover Is Childlike -The Low Anthem

    Dark Days -Punch Brothers

Tomorrow Will Be Kinder - The Secret Sisters

    Just a Game -Birdy

Oh Come & Sing -Ella Mae Bowen

    Rules - Jayme Dee

Reaping Day - Carolina Chocolate Drops

Give Me Something I'll Remember - Neko Case

And she got twice as many songs as they did. I hate to give an American Idol alum their dues, but she can bring it.

She actually grew up less than 20 miles from my town...

...in Wyomissing, PA, a nice suburb of Reading, now the poorest city in America. This area is certainly no hotbed for country music, so I'm not sure what got her into that genre. Parental influence perhaps?

My son is reading those books and really likes them. I think Taylor Swift is much more palatable, than say, Pitbull or something. I'm not a huge fan of her music, but I could likely sit through those tracks without feeling the need to skip them. Plus the one song features the Civil Wars, who I really like.
And the world will turn to flowing pink vapor stew.

Good gawd the only name I recognize on that list is Taylor Swift and I could not tell you a single song she sings.

Kid Cudi doesn't count since he's from Cleveland so I know about him.

I've seen The Decemberists, Arcade Fire, The Low Anthem (opened for Iron & WIne) and Neko Case live. I'm no country fan but I've heard of Miranda Lambert (as well as Taylor).

There are a few on there I never head of, but you really need to get out more.
