So, how many times have you listened to High Violet?

I know I wasn't the only one to grab a copy of the new one from The National. While I tend to favor the independent record stores, mine is kaput. Best Buy is selling it for 7.99 and you can't possibly go wrong for 7.99. Killer album which is actually a little surprising since I kind of expected that somewhere along the line they'd put one out that isn't amazingly cool. Not yet !

I've got 5 spins in. Would have more but I've also been enjoying the new LCD Soundsystem and Caribou : )

BTW, from The National website: "On May 15th, we'd like to invite you to tune into YouTube at 8:00 pm Eastern time for a very exciting experiment. We'll be performing live at the Brooklyn Academy of Music Opera House and thanks to Zynch from American Express, the concert will be webcast live worldwide."

    just fyi

    Regards,

Hey Jim! I saw that in the store the other day but di'nt pull the trigger. The last one, Boxer, took a few spins to get into for me, but its in regular rotation now.

I'm trying to digest the latest from Gorillaz, Plastic Beach. This one is typical Gorillaz, only without a great single, like Dare or Feel Good Inc. The one with Gruff Rhys and De La Soul is cool, but way too short. This whole album plays like a movie score for an anime flick.

Good to see the year finally start to pick up for new stuff after dragging its feet until the last month or so. I have a feeling I'll be picking up that Nat'l.

Hey, Jim. Good to see ya. I'll undoubtedly pick it up, eventually. But at this point I'm still absorbing the new ones from Besnard Lakes, New Pornos, Broken Bells, Hold Steady & Spoon. Plus, I was a late-comer to Boxer and it's still working its magic on me.

But I'll grab HV and familiarize myself with it before I go see them in August. I feel certain of that.

Make sure you get it in time to memorize the lyrics so you can sing along : )

Still haven't heard a note of The National. I should probably rectify that situation at some point.

I should have it in my mailbox by Monday. I paid the same..

...at Amazon as the Best Buy is a 30 minute drive from my house. I have heard a few of the tracks and liked them very much, so I'm really looking forward to it.

It's good to see you poke your nose in on RR once in awhile. Don't be a stranger and too many others have disappeared of late.
I call my bathroom Jim instead of John so I can tell people that I go to the Jim first thing every morning.

If you say the word 'gullible' very slowly it sounds just like oranges.

Oh yeah, like a lack of coherent lyrics is going to slow down a drunken MidFi singalong anyway.

A couple of songs was all it took. Enough to know they're still just as boring as ever.

    Hey, you asked.
