Funny stuff: Hall Of Douchebags

I've seen something like this before, a site that put up a bunch of band promo photos & captioned them with *ahem* shall we say...disparaging remarks. Given the very common gimmick of bands taking their photos in front of brick walls, it became a common theme to point out the lack of originality in their arty stabs. Well, here' s a site that has a section devoted to this sort of thing also...not the same as the last site I came across, I don't think...though I may have also posted a link to that site here. If it turns out to be the same, have me custom-fit for the dunce cap I deserve from misreading Jim C's Clinic post earlier.

This site is put up by someone who calls himself Brett Meisner & who seems to specialize in tongue-in-cheek wiseass mullet-speak, if that means anything. I've seen him pretend to be a tunnelvision-damaged classic rocker, you know the type...but it's amusing. And it's got a bit of that Kaufmanesque kind of thing where you're just not sure whether or not you take him at face value. Not that I'm comparing him with Andy Kaufman, just to say that he has managed to dupe some into believing that he passionately feels whatever silly thing he said about how this or that band was the best rock band of all time & everything & everybody else sucks, or whatever...

Anyway, I spent a little time with the Hall Of Douchebags & I was laughing pretty hard. Not every one's a winner, but enough of the time these are so silly that coming up with a good caption couldn't have been all that difficult, but he nails it all the same. A lot of these posers are referred to as 'Jeremy,' and he does notice how many bands put up shots taken in front of...well, 'brick-wallers' is what he calls them. There aren't a ton to the right--maybe around 660-665, but you can either plug in any number below that onto the end of the URL or just work yr way backward...it's a hoot.
