    The Secret Machines

I am reccommending The Secret Machines to anyone that would like The Flaming Lips/Granddaddy crossed with early Floyd with Bonham on drumkit.
    Heavy bombastic indie rawk.
Fresh enough for indie rockers; Out there enough for prog rockers.

Aerosol Kid, eh? How'd ya "bag" that name?

The new ...And You Will Know Us By the Trail Of Dead disc is pretty out there, too. On an EP I just picked up, they cover a Genesis tune, and the new disc has traces of Rush going for it.

Yeah, I agree. It's a good album with lots of crossover appeal. As a matter of fact, we had a pretty big thread about that subject when it was released early last year: The Secret Machines - Now This is Nowhere: an album that can unite us?

Kind of a fun story behind the band too. Always nice to see a small band like that move up to national attention and MTV play after working hard at it and sacrificing to get there, even though they are still pretty young. Nice set of influences they draw from. The drumming does get to be a bit much after awhile though. At least to me

    Ditto on the welcome.

Hey Rael, hows John doing these days?

Davey, that thread is pretty much useless about that band and album.

Finch, burn me the trail of the dead disc, woodja?

I liked the "Secret Machines" album, Definitely some prog/spacerock crossover with an indie mentality. "Pharohs Daughter" into "You are Chains" is my favorite part.

I think its a really crappy sounding album though. Muddy caused by too much flange and reverb. The songs are really simple and they tried to hide it with too many effects.

But what I said was, "It's a good album with lots of crossover appeal. As a matter of fact, we had a pretty big thread about that subject....", that subject being crossover appeal of some types of music. I mean, he already knows what the band and album sounds like since he has it, right
