I'll be there! I usually drink a bunch of coffee and hit up 4 or 5 of the local shops we're fortunate to have around here. I've got a modest list of wants, some are in Very limited pressings, like 500 - world-wide copies, of Beyond The Ragasphere by Debashish Battacharya & the repress of Sigur Ros's Aegaetis Bryjus(?!), but a fun day and subsequent evening of pouring a cocktail and immersing in a long listen session...

The giveaways weren't too shabby at ours. Several free samplers, plus a tote bag that smells like a blow-up swimming pool. I had to put it outside, it was making me nauseous.

I was looking for the McCartney single of Maybe I'm Amazed purely out of curiosity to see what was on the other side. Our store didn't seem to have it.

Speaking of nauseous, who buys the LPs/45s that are drug out on this day? I mean, wtf, 45s with no bonus material, two tracks off the album for $8 (I'm looking at you David Bowie)? Cake's 45 had a "radio edit" version of Northern California Girls. Wtf? I can do one of those at home, just fade it out prematurely. No bonus tracks, live tracks or unreleased tracks? Eff that.

Oh, well. Thanks for the free siht.

Excellent day here, though we had a crappy 8" snow storm the days before, Sat. was warm(ish) and sunny. Hit up 5 local shops and got most of what I was excited about...
Sigur Ros - Aegaetis Byrjun reissue
Golden Gunn (great collab. between Steve Gunn & Hiss Golden Messengers)
Robyn Hitchcock - There Goes the Ice
Dave Matthews Band live box set
    Josephine Foster - Little Life
    Low/Dirty Three collab.
Van Dyke Parks - Song Cycle (mono)
    &
    Ice Age - You're Nothing

The 7" Bob Dylan's Wigwam is a standout. It's a demo before the horns were added. Hendrix 7" Hey Joe mono version puts everything front and center and is really cool. The Nick Drake s/t reissue sounds glorious. The Porno for Pryos s/t tie-dye vinyl looks and sounds fantastic. The 10" Sly and the Family Stone is funky as sh*t.

I have a few more 7", 10" and 12" to go through. My cheesy side wanted the Paul McCartney too but no luck. I also missed out on the Iron and Wine 7". Nevertheless, it was a fine fun day for someone who has to drive an hour to a record store. I did score an offlist oddity - Russ Meyer original soundtrack music from 3 films, gatefold and booklet with lotsa pics of buxom beauties.
