    Prog (drum) appreciators
Is 'appreciators' a word? I wanted to use something different besides 'lovers.'

Anyhoo, check out the Oct. issue of Modern Drummer. It's dedicated strictly to prog, and guess who's on the cover? Yup, Mike Portnoy, w/ a good interview. And lots of other stuff going on, from Gavin Harrison to Bruford to Aynsley Dunbar to Pat Mastelotto.

Don't know if you non-drummers would appreciate it, but I plan on sending my copy to a friend who plays bass/guitar. We've had plenty of discussions re: drummers over the years, and we both enjoy the same players.

Here's the website, but I don't see the new issue up, yet. It's got a dorky pic of Portnoy with his mouth open on the cover. :cornut:

A good friend of mine is a drummer and he asked me a question once.

What do you call a drummer in a suit?

I like what I've heard from Bill Bruford for his music, primarily. Of fantastic drummers who are sympathetic to his music, may I give a shout out to Tony Williams, Lenny White, Alphonse Mouzon, and Billy Cobham.
