Noddin's 2007 Best of Table Scraps

I didn’t buy enough music in 2007 to really justify a year end comp, so I had to cheat a little bit with Jan 2007 purchases of late 2006 albums. But, if there are others here like me that can’t maintain a position on the bleeding edge of listening, perhaps you’ll enjoy a little catching up with me. Trying to navigate around Slosh’s and nobody’s comps, I offer up noddin0ff’s 2007 Best of Table Scraps comp.

Beware the unconventional sequencing! Eighty-one is mellow; What You Need is anything but.

01 Eighty-One: Bill Frisell, Ron Carter & Paul Motian

Eighty-one is a Ron Carter & Miles Davis piece originally from 1965’s album E.S.P.

02 What You Need [w-Lyrics Born]: Galactic (From the Corner to the Block)
A fine mish-mash of sounds, words, and rhythm

03 Down The Tube: Medeski, Scofield, Martin & Wood (Out Louder)
Great jam. Dig it or don’t.

04 The Authority Box: Robyn Hitchcock & The Venus 3 (Olé! Tarantula)
f**k me baby I’m a trolley bus…” huh? The Venus 3 is Peter Buck (REM), Scott McCaughey (Young Fresh Fellows – yay!), and Bill Reiflin (Ministry, drums of course).

05 Wrap My Head Around That: Lucinda Williams (West)
Why the sexes continue to differ…

06 I Will Rise Up / Ain't No More Cane: Lyle Lovett (It's Not Big It's Large)
Lyle and his Large band stir the genre pot.

07 Second and Dryades [w-Big Chief Monk]: Galactic (From the Corner to the Block)
Sticks in my head…and needed a filler. Go cowbell!

08 Greaze Monkey: Organissimo (This Is The Place)
    Go triangle! Ok, I ‘discovered’ this in 2007. It’s a 2005 release.

09 Effect & Cause: The White Stripes (Icky Thump)
    Slosh beat me to 300 M.P.H. …

10 Sinkin' Soon: Norah Jones (Not Too Late)
Nice to see her stretching her talents ever so slightly

11 Dark Matter (Live): Andrew Bird (Fingerlings 3)
I like it better than the Armchair Apocrypha version.

All files in FLAC. (1h 06min). Enjoy!
